Snider accuracy.

I've noticed that a few chaps on the forum can get better accuracy from the old snider by using smokeless powder,so tried it myself, & found it cut my average groupe from 4"+, down to 2 1/2" + (using Green dot, thanks Fred)Now, why should this be? Apart ...

Re: Snider accuracy.

Hello Colfi, Thanks for the load data. Do you have something to seperate the powder and lube?...............or do you only load a few to use right away? Sounds like the bullet works well in your rifle! I think the gun is often a big part of the eq...

I remember why I did......the horrendous recoil and a high comb right under my cheekbone when down on the rear sight properly. If that was all I had to shoot I wouldnt be aiming it.I know, Im a wous.......

Re: Snider accuracy.

Gcrank1, that makes two of us! I can't shoot an Enfield with stock sights without developing a bruised cheekbone. I fired 50 rounds through my .451 volunteer rifle with 550 grain bullets the first day I had it. The last 40 weren't fun at all and the follo...

Steve, Just keep shooting. your cheekbone will get hammered up out of the way in time! Only one to bight me, was a cadet carbine with a 1" shorter buttstock, but I made up a lace-on extension, and all is good, even prone.

Re: Snider accuracy.

Try a little experiment take your rifle put it up to your shoulder as you normaly would then take away your suporting hand if the muzzle drops more than an inch you are not holding it properly. My PH 451 whitworth was used with a 540gr bullet and always 9...

Re: Snider accuracy.

You can't get moulds and such from Coyote any more. Check and see what Lee and CBE have available in comparable moulds. I would stay clear of Trail Boss and duplex loads in the .577 Snider. -Ryan

Re: Snider accuracy.

Gents          Here's an update on progress, as some of you are aware I am now the proud owner/custodian of Colin's Snider. Well yesterday at the Seymour Blackpowder Club in the .577/.58 shoot at a range of 50 metre...
